Getting in: By plane

Roissy-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) is the city’s principal airport, located 25km northeast of Paris. Paris-Orly, the city’s secondary airport, is located 13km south of Paris. Getting in: By train

Several train stations serve different international destinations:

  • Gare du Nord: the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, northern Germany
  • Gare de l’Est: Luxembourg, Germany
  • Gare de Lyon: Switzerland, northern Italy, Spain

These and other stations (Gare Montparnasse, Gare Saint Lazare, Gare d’Austerlitz, and Gare de Bercy) serve different locations all over France.

Getting around: How to reach UPMC from Paris Airports

By taxi

A flat rate is applied when travelling between Paris airports and locations within Paris; take a taxi from official stands outside the terminal.

  • Between Roissy-CDG and UPMC: €55
  • Between Paris-Orly and UPMC: €30

By public transport

Direction: Roissy-CDG to UPMC

  • Travel on RER B until Saint-Michel Notre-Dame (all trains from Roissy-CDG go to Paris)
  • Transfer to Metro 10 (direction: Gare d’Austerlitz) and until Jussieu station
  • Exit station and walk to UPMC (approximately 1 minute)

Direction: Paris-Orly to UPMC

  • Travel on Paris Orlybus to Denfert Rochereau
  • Transfer to Metro 4 (direction: Porte de Clignancourt), until Odeon
  • Transfer to Metro 10 (direction: Gare d’Austerlitz) and until Jussieu station
  • Exit station and walk to UPMC (approximately 1 minute)

Direction: Paris-Orly to UPMC (alternative route, more expensive)

  • Travel on Paris Orlyval to Anthony
  • Transfer to RER B (northbound, direction: Aéroport-Charles-de-Gaulle or Mitry-Claye) until Saint-Michel Notre-Dame
  • Transfer to Metro 10 (direction: Gare d’Austerlitz) and alight at Jussieu station
  • Exit station and walk to UPMC (approximately 1 minute)

Direction: Paris-Orly to UPMC (alternative route, budget)

  • Travel on Tram 7 (direction: Villejuif Louis Aragon) until its terminal station
  • Transfer to Metro 7 (direction: La Courneuve 8 Mai 1945) until Jussieu station
  • Exit station and walk to UPMC (approximately 1 minute)

Ticket requirement, for each journey which takes approximately an hour:

  • One Aéroport-CDG ticket, €10.00, for travel on RER B and free transfer to the metro system for the same journey – just insert the same ticket into the validation machine.
  • One Orlybus ticket, €8.00, which allows for travel on Orlybus until Denfert Rochereau. Additionally, a t+ ticket, €1.90, is required to transfer to the metro system.
  • One Orlyval ticket, €12.05, which allows for travel on Orlyval and free transfer to the RER and metro system.
  • Two t+ tickets, €1.90 each, one for the tram and one for the metro.

Getting around: How to reach UPMC from key Paris train stations

By taxi

Metered taxis are available at taxi ranks outside train stations or by reservation (reservation supplement applicable). The standing pick-up charge is €2.60 and the minimum fare, including supplements, is €7.00. Be prepared to pay in cash; drivers who can accept credit or debit cards will have signs displayed on the windows. By public transport

Direction: Gare du Nord to UPMC

  • Travel on Metro 4 (direction: Mairie de Montrouge) until Chatelet
  • Transfer to Metro 7 (direction: Mairie d’Ivry) until Jussieu station
  • Exit station and walk to UPMC (approximately 1 minute)

Direction: Gare de l’Est to UPMC

  • Travel on Metro 7 (direction: Mairie d’Ivry) until Jussieu station
  • Exit station and walk to UPMC (approximately 1 minute)

Direction: Gare de Lyon to UPMC

  • Travel on bus 63 (direction: Porte de la Muette) until Cuvier stop
  • Walk to UPMC (approximately 8 minutes)
  • Or, simply walk to UPMC from Gare de Lyon (approximately 20 minutes)

For any of these journeys, 1 t+ ticket, €1.90, is required. If taking bus 63, t ticket may be purchased onboard from the driver, €2.00 (note: t+ ticket is not sold onboard buses and t ticket does not allow transfers).
